This region is practically cut-off from the rest of the Croatian coastline by a short piece of land that belongs to Bosnia & Herzegovina.

Literally a short strip of land along the sea, South Dalmatia is home to Dubrovnik, the pearl of the Adriatic Sea. This city is one of the most prominent tourist destinations in the Mediterranean thanks to its unique character and rich history. Today Dubrovnik is on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.

South Dalmatia though offers many more opportunities for an awesome vacation. The Elafiti archipelago is a complex of mostly uninhabited islands stretching northwest off Dubrovnik and is a dream come true for sailors. Sail to the island of Mljet with its natural park to enjoy nature at its best. Further north the Korcula island is famous for the traditional sword dance and drama of Moreska.
