Most beaches are in the southern part of the island, protected by the strong northern winds of July and August. But if you visit when the winds are favourable, you may want to go to some of the northern beaches too. They are less crowded and more relaxed compared to the popular southern ones. Here are our favourite less known Mykonos beaches!
A beautiful beach, 14 km east of the town of Mykonos. With no public transit and at a good distance from the town, the beach is quiet and will offer you great swimming and snorkeling in its crystal clear waters. The only taverna on the beach will serve you excellent Greek and Italian food.
At 10 km southeast of the town of Mykonos and without bus service, Agrari is a great option when one wants to avoid the crowds. The sand is just unbelievably soft and white and the waters are the deepest blue. An excellent choice for some down time from the crazy rhythm of the island.

One of the northern beaches that are well worth a visit. At 12 km northeast of Mykonos town, Fokos has no tourist facilities and is not served by public transport. But it has an excellent taverna that is a destination on its own among Mykonos fans.
This narrow beach close to Mykonos town (5 km southeast) is lovely and an ideal getaway for those who are looking for some serenity. Don’t miss the opportunity to swim in the early evening to enjoy a spectacular sunset over the sacred island of Delos.
A beach that reminds of “old Mykonos”. Facing west, rest assured that Kapari will offer you unforgettable sunsets and total relaxation. As this beach is not easily accessible, be prepared for an unusually quiet atmosphere. So, are you ready for a dip in some of the best beaches in the Mediterranean?
